World Literatures (Non-European Languages)

This area of inquiry seeks to include scholarship on non-European languages and literatures.

The term World Literature designates areas of literature and language insufficiently developed within NeMLA, including (but not limited to) Chinese, Arabic, and African languages. The board would like to encourage scholars in these areas to propose sessions and to help create a strong presence for this important and under-represented work.

We invite members to contact the area director to talk about the division, its potential growth, and the future of this field.
